Ranveer Singh just hit a rough patch, with the Anniyan remake becoming the fourth major project of his to be shelved recently—following in the footsteps of Rakshasa, Shaktimaan, and Don 3. Ironically, director S. Shankar wasn’t even keen on remaking his 2005 Tamil hit at first, but Ranveer’s own excitement supposedly talked him into it. Now, the project has been quietly dropped after Ranveer reportedly had a change of heart about the whole idea.It seems the actor is second-guessing the “vigilante-superhero” vibe, feeling like the genre has been overdone lately. While fans are surprised to see so many big-budget films stalling back-to-back, Ranveer might actually be onto something by stepping away from a formula that’s starting to feel a bit stale. For now, it looks like he’s prioritizing the right script over just another massive blockbuster.
