Telangana Cracks Down on Piracy with Strict Theatre Warnings and Heavy Penalties

The Telangana government has introduced a strong new anti-piracy warning system in theatres, aiming to curb the growing issue of illegal movie recording. The announcement comes as part of stricter enforcement measures to protect the film industry from financial losses caused by piracy.

As per the new rules, recording movies inside theatres is now considered a serious criminal offense. Offenders could face up to three years in jail along with hefty fines reaching ₹3 lakh or even 5% of the film’s production cost, whichever is higher. This marks one of the strictest anti-piracy policies implemented in recent times.

The warning is now being prominently displayed on cinema screens before movie screenings, clearly informing audiences about the legal consequences. Authorities believe that increasing awareness among viewers will act as a strong deterrent against piracy activities.

This move has been widely welcomed by filmmakers and industry stakeholders, who have long demanded stricter laws to protect their content. With these new regulations in place, Telangana is taking a firm stand to safeguard cinema and ensure fair revenue for creators.
