Did Vijay Really Give Up the CM Post for His Principles?
Politics in Tamil Nadu just got a major reality check. Aadhav Arjuna, the General Secretary of Vijay’s party (TVK), recently dropped a bombshell: he claimed that a major political player offered Vijay a guaranteed two-and-a-half-year term as Chief Minister and up to 90 assembly seats just to form an alliance. But according to Arjuna, the superstar didn’t even blink before saying “no.” Vijay’s reasoning? He refuses to “succumb to Delhi” or compromise on his core mission of secular social justice. By turning down a literal shortcut to power, he’s sending a loud message that he’d rather earn the people’s trust from scratch than cut a deal behind closed doors.
This bold “go-it-alone” strategy is a massive gamble for the upcoming elections. While rumors swirled about potential tie-ups with the BJP or AIADMK, Vijay used a recent Iftar gathering to double down on his stance, calling the BJP his “ideological enemy” and the DMK his “political adversary.” By rejecting these high-stakes offers, the TVK is positioning itself as a “pure force” against what they call the “evil force” of corruption. It’s a move designed to win over minority voters and disillusioned youth who are tired of traditional power-sharing deals, proving that for Vijay, ideology actually comes before the chair.
