Is the New Harry Potter Already Making More Than Daniel Radcliffe Did?
The wizarding world is buzzing again, but this time it’s about the massive paychecks for the new HBO series. Reports suggest that the new trio—Dominic McLaughlin, Alastair Stout, and Arabella Stanton—are each taking home a “whopping” £500,000 (roughly ₹5.5 to 6 crore) for the first season. While that sounds like a fortune for a group of kids fresh out of primary school, it’s actually a bit of a bargain compared to the original movies. Back in 2001, a young Daniel Radcliffe reportedly earned £1 million (over ₹10 crore in today’s value) for just the first film, The Sorcerer’s Stone. Even though the new stars are starting with a smaller slice of the pie, they are already among the highest-paid child actors on TV today.
The real magic, however, lies in the future. While the new cast is earning about £60,000 per episode for the 8-part debut season, their salaries are expected to skyrocket if the show becomes a global hit. For comparison, Daniel Radcliffe’s pay jumped from £1 million to a staggering £25 million by the final films, ending his run with a total fortune of nearly £95 million. The new stars are currently “on track to be multi-millionaires before they turn 18,” especially with Season 2 already being written. It’s clear that while the starting numbers are different, the path to becoming a world-famous (and very wealthy) wizard remains exactly the same.
