The Kerala Police have just cracked open a massive, terrifying human trafficking ring that was operating right under the guise of glamorous Dubai modeling contracts. It turns out a group of scammers used slick social media ads to invite young women to a fake Dubai fashion show, promising them huge international exposure, beauty parlor gigs, and modeling careers. Instead, once the women arrived in Dubai on visiting visas, they were allegedly given spiked drinks, trapped in apartments, and had their passports and phones stolen. The criminals even filmed them in compromising positions to blackmail them into silence.
The whole operation started falling apart when two brave survivors managed to escape back to India and tell their stories, prompting the Kochi City Police to form a Special Investigation Team. So far, three women—including the alleged mastermind, Sindhu, who was caught trying to flee the country at the Mumbai airport—have been arrested. But the plot thickens: investigators are now aggressively looking into major local gang connections and checking if local film and TV actors helped run or protect this international ring. Police expect a lot more victims to come forward as the investigation deepens.
